Sports Performance Dashboard using Power BI

March 2nd, 2020

Wearable devices like digital watches, shoe chips, and chest monitors generate a lot of useful data around athletic performance. The wearable device trend continues upward as demand for more physical feedback helps measure progress over time, manage recovery post-injury, and catch problems before an athlete is sidelined.  The Men’s basketball team at Georgia Tech needed a solution that would aggregate data from multiple devices and provide a comprehensive dashboard. Different data sources (CSV, API, TXT, DB) were downloaded and stored in Azure Tables.  This data was then imported into the Power BI and modelled to produce the analysis needed by coaches.  We will go into detail about the solution.

David Frankland has been developing software and database solutions for twenty-four years and has been working for B2B Technologies for the past fourteen years.  His certifications include CTT+, MCITP, and MCTS, and in the past, he was a Microsoft Certified Trainer.  He’s been working with Power BI, since it was launched, and loves it, as well as the other Power Platform components.
